Calacatta Gold marble & Raven CaesarStone Kitchen from MGS by Design

Last year we did the countertops in this beautiful remodel done by Tiek Built Homes.
I'm excited to finally show you the pictures!

Isn't it gorgeous?!?
Here's a Before picture to show you how dramatic the transformation was....
Photo: Tiek Built Homes
They used polished Calacatta Gold marble on the countertops and for the full height backsplash.  When you have such a stunning marble I really do think you should just carry it on up to the backsplash.  It really shows off the marble, it's a great look.  Plus, it's easy to clean.....no grout!

The edge detail is a laminated Ogee Square.  I love this edge on marble.

For the peninsula the homeowner wanted to use a material that was more durable than the marble, plus they were looking for a contrast.  They decided on CaesarStone quartz in the color Raven.  I love how it turned out!  The Raven is a dark grey, it works really well with the Calacatta Gold.

The Interior Designer on this job was Caitlin Creer
Check out Tiek Built Homes blog for more pictures of this home.  Caitlin & Tiek Built Homes really did such a great job, everything turned out beautifully.

Saturday Link Up!

Carla Aston Designed posted an article recently asking Have Granite Countertops Gone Out of Style?  I obviously don't think so.  Go here to see what she thinks!

The kitchen below has granite countertops and it's definitely on trend.   Not out of style at all.  :)

White kitchens are still crazy popular.  The article 5 Myths About White Kitchens on Cultivate may help put you at ease if you are on the fence about an all white kitchen.

I didn't realize glass tile dates back to the Romans.  The History of Glass Tile was really interesting to me.  Definitely read it if you have a minute, it's a quick and interesting read.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Whiteout Wednesday: 5 White Kitchens

White kitchens and baths are definitely the hottest trend I am seeing right now. It's also the subject I get asked about the most. From white Carrara marble to white quartz there is a lot to consider when using white countertops.
Whiteout Wednesday is a weekly feature where I show five kitchens and/ or baths that have used white in a beautiful way.
If you have a white kitchen or bath that you would like to see featured here please email me.

I've got five really great white kitchens for you this week!

This first kitchen I actually saw on last week's episode of Selling New York.  (I ridiculously love that show.)  The 5th Avenue Penthouse was designed by the architect Joseph Dirand.  The entire Penthouse was amazing.  If I had 12 million to spend on my home, I'd totally consider spending it on this place.
You can see more photos of this Penthouse here.
The countertops in the kitchen are Carrara marble.  Look closely at the island, the marble wraps the entire thing.  Gorgeous!

6 Pink, Yes Pink, Kitchens

I'm a pink girl, I always have been.  I tried to deny it for awhile as a teenager because I didn't think it was cool, but now I'm not cool anyway, so I embrace my love of pink.  :)
I haven't met too many people who are neutral about pink, it's usually a love or hate thing.
Maybe if I was single I would think about doing a pink kitchen, but I know there is no possible way that my husband would even allow a drop of pink in our kitchen!
So today I'll just show pictures of fun, pink kitchens.

I think this first kitchen from LivingEtc is my favorite kitchen of the day.  I like that it's not overwhelmingly pink and it's a good color of pink.  The backsplash is painted glass and the countertops are concrete.  The sofa is amazing, but I'm not loving the rug.  I think white or grey quartz countertops would be awesome in here.

I like that this kitchen from the Nest Egg blog is pink only on the painted walls....the least inexpensive part of the kitchen to change when you are ready for a change and want to paint your kitchen yellow or turquoise or olive green instead.  The countertops look to be granite.

Okay never mind, this last kitchen is tied for my favorite of the day.  The picture is from UK Glass Products.   The backsplash is painted glass and I think the countertops are probably quartz.

So, anyone out there want to admit that they either have a pink kitchen or want a pink kitchen???

6 Orange Colored Kitchens

I've never been a huge fan of orange, but it's my husband's favorite color.  So I have to admit it's been slowly growing on me.
While searching for orange colored kitchens today I was surprised how much I really liked a lot of these rooms.
Some shades are so fresh and clean looking.....like in this photo below.

While other shades are really warm and go great with warmer colored wood cabinets.

Does anyone remember CaesarStone's orange countertops called Tequila Sunrise?  I really liked them, but I understand why the color was discontinued in the US....I can see it not really being a hot seller.

I think this kitchen below would look great with Pebble CaesarStone.

So what do you think?  Would you put orange in your kitchen?

CaesarStone's New Colors Inspired by Marble

Earlier this year CaesarStone released five new CaesarStone colors that are inspired by marble.
Recently we have seen a surge in sales of these new colors.  To the extent that our local supplier can't keep them in stock!

Dreamy Marfil
Dreamy Marfil resembles Crema Marfil marble.  It's a cream color with light veining.

Emperadoro
Emperadoro was inspired by Emperador Dark marble.  It's a chocolate brown quartz with light veining.

Frosty Carrina
Frosty Carrina has been our most requested color by far.  It resembles one of the many oh-so-popular white marbles.

London Grey
London Grey is a cool white with grey veining.  It was inspired by Carrara marble.

Piatra Grey
Piatra Grey is a really pretty dark grey color with white veining.  This color is actually my favorite of the five.

I posted a picture of a Dreamy Marfil vanity that we recently installed on Instagram.  Check it out here and follow us to see behind the scenes at our shop & on job sites!

Which is your favorite of the 5 new quartz colors?
Would you use one of these or would you prefer the natural stone?

Samsung Radianz Quartz Used as a Coffee Machine Base

CityHome Collective wrote about a local company, Alpha Dominche, a few months ago.  Check out the article here.

Alpha Dominche makes a coffee machine called the Steampunk 4.0.   It’s the first-ever automated, temperature controlled, full-immersion brewer.

These coffee machines sit on a base.  The base of these machines is Diamond White Samsung Radianz quartz.
Who made these bases?
We did!
Check it out, they're pretty cool.

Stylish Laundry Rooms

Laundry Rooms have come a long way from the musty basements and dark corners that people used to do their laundry. These days people often multi task the laundry room with crafting, gift wrapping, etc.
Laundry rooms are more stylish nowadays then ever and are a great place to put beautiful stone or quartz countertops!
I'm not sure what these countertops are, but for the same look you could use CaesarStone's Blizzard or Carrara marble.

This is a really cute and unique laundry room.  The countertops look to be Absolute Black granite.

This Laundry Room is a Parade Home that we did last year in Utah County.  The countertops are Quartz Reflections CaesarStone.
I love this laundry room.  The countertops look to be Carrara marble.

These next two photos are from our portfolio, this home was in the Salt Lake Parade of Homes last year.  The countertops are Lagos Blue CaesarStone.

I'd love to have an island in my laundry room for folding!  The countertops are Carrara marble.

Last is one of my favorite granite colors, Nero Marinace.
