Calacatta Gold marble & Raven CaesarStone Kitchen from MGS by Design

Last year we did the countertops in this beautiful remodel done by Tiek Built Homes.
I'm excited to finally show you the pictures!

Isn't it gorgeous?!?
Here's a Before picture to show you how dramatic the transformation was....

They used polished Calacatta Gold marble on the countertops and for the full height backsplash.  When you have such a stunning marble I really do think you should just carry it on up to the backsplash.  It really shows off the marble, it's a great look.  Plus, it's easy to clean.....no grout!

The edge detail is a laminated Ogee Square.  I love this edge on marble.

For the peninsula the homeowner wanted to use a material that was more durable than the marble, plus they were looking for a contrast.  They decided on CaesarStone quartz in the color Raven.  I love how it turned out!  The Raven is a dark grey, it works really well with the Calacatta Gold.

The Interior Designer on this job was Caitlin Creer
Check out Tiek Built Homes blog for more pictures of this home.  Caitlin & Tiek Built Homes really did such a great job, everything turned out beautifully.

Home Office with Cranbrook Cambria quartz

Quartz is an excellent choice for countertops in any office.
Here are a couple of pictures of a home office we did...
The quartz is Cambria, the color is Cranbrook.  The edge detail is a 2 1/4" Miter.  Check out the metal sheets on the backsplash that they will use for magnets.

Samsung Radianz Quartz Used as a Coffee Machine Base

CityHome Collective wrote about a local company, Alpha Dominche, a few months ago.  Check out the article here.

Alpha Dominche makes a coffee machine called the Steampunk 4.0.   It’s the first-ever automated, temperature controlled, full-immersion brewer.

These coffee machines sit on a base.  The base of these machines is Diamond White Samsung Radianz quartz.
Who made these bases?
We did!
Check it out, they're pretty cool.

FAQ Friday: What Are Granite Remnants & When Should I Use Them?

Granite (or marble, limestone, quartz, soapstone, etc) remnants are a great choice for smaller projects.

What are remnants?  They are the pieces left over from other jobs.
Most granite slabs are between 50-60 square feet.  A typical kitchen uses two slabs.  We have to buy the full slab whether we are using 1/8 of it or 3/4 of it.  More often than not there are usable pieces left over.
We keep those remnants and sell them for smaller jobs such as vanities, furniture pieces, fireplace surrounds, etc.

Unless your vanity is rather large or if you have two vanities in one bathroom it is silly to buy a whole slab for a little vanity.  It will save you quite a bit of money to just use one of our remnants.  Sometimes the selection is better than others, but we usually have a lot to choose from.

Even this large double vanity above was a remnant from our yard.

Bianco Antico Granite Kitchen from MGS by Design

A lot of times we see the oh-so-popular Bianco Antico in cooler colored kitchens.
We did this install and it was fun to see the change of using the Bianco Antico more with browns and warmer tones.

The slabs were 2 cm.  The homeowner selected a 1 1/2" Half Moon edge detail.  This is definitely one of our most popular edges.

Hello, that's me in the reflection of the microwave.  Nice.

We did windowsills out of the Bianco Antico in the Kitchen and the adjoining Dining Room with the same 1 1/2" Half Moon edge.

Vanities with Marble Countertops from MGS by Design

I know I've been showing a lot of our work lately, I'm just trying to play catch up on all the older job photos that we have.
Today I thought I'd show a few vanities that we have done with marble countertops.

First is this beautiful Carrara marble.  The slab is 2 cm with a 1 1/2" Ogee Square edge detail.

The next two pictures are of the same vanity.  The marble is Crema Marfil, this Crema Marfil has more veining than typical, it was a beautiful slab.  It's 2 cm and has a 1 1/4" Deep Bevel edge detail.

This next vanity is the same marble but has a 1 1/2" Ogee Square edge detail.

So I lied, these next two countertops aren't marble.  They are actually quartz, I think Silestone.

Diana Real Marble Vanities from MGS by Design

Happy Friday!
Today I thought I'd share a few photos from our portfolio. All three vanities are Diana Real marble.
You can't see the details in the photo below very well, but the edge detail is an Ogee Square and the undermount sinks are square shaped.
I may have shown this vanity here before, and if I did, I probably mentioned that I love the design of the vanity. The edge detail is a 1 1/4" Bevel.
I love the bump out with the radius for the make-up table part of the vanity. The stone vessel sinks are really beautiful too. The edge detail on this vanity is an Ogee Square.
