Slab Sunday: Red Dragon granite

Red Dragon granite comes from a bedrock quarry northern Brazil.
Red Dragon isn't an extremely popular granite for kitchens, I think it's due to the bold color.  If you are thinking about red countertops though, Red Dragon is a beautiful option.

Red Dragon is one of the strongest and most dense stones on the market.  Normally, most granites will take up to three to four days to cut a block into slabs. Due to its density, Red Dragon can take up to twice as long.  For this reason you will see Red Dragon used a lot in commercial applications.  Especially in climates with freeze/ thaw conditions (like here in Utah).

Red Dragon is available in 2 cm and 3 cm slabs.
