Slab Sunday: Tropic Brown Granite

Tropic Brown granite is quarried from a boulder quarry in Saudi Arabia.

I personally really like Tropic Brown. It is probably the granite I suggest the most often when people are looking for a dark color & are on a budget. In fact, it's what is in my parent's kitchen. My mom had loved the color for years!

Tropic Brown sometimes has sort of a green tone to it, where other times it is a reddish brown. I suggest ALWAYS taking the time to look at the exact slabs that will go in your home before they are cut. While both tones of the Tropic Brown are beautiful, you might not like one or the other. It's much cheaper for everyone to figure that out before the slabs have been purchased and cut!

Other names for Tropic Brown include: Tropical Brown, Najaran Brown, Saudi Brown, Ghadeer, Tropic Taz, Havana Brown, Coral Mist, Askar Brown and Falcon Brown.

Tropic Brown is available in 2 cm & 3 cm slab, prefabricated slabs and tile.

I wouldn't have thought to do the blue backsplash with the Tropic Brown, but I like it!

The brownish/red material comes from Saudi Arabia and is quarried by the Bin Laden Group (yes the father of Osama). The greenish material comes from Brazil hence the name Tropic Brown.
