Slab Sunday: Kashmire White granite

Kashmire White is quarried in a bedrock quarry formation in India.

Kashmire White actually comes from the same quarry as Madura Gold.  Kashmire White comes from the lower level of the quarry.  The Madura Gold is the top 20 feet of the quarry which has been oxidizing for millions of years.  The oxidation is what turned the Kashmire White granite to the warm gold and caramel colors that are in the Madura Gold.

Kashmire White is a great alternate to the oh-so-popular Carrara marble countertops that we are doing so much of right now.  It has the same white and grey tones, but since it's a granite you don't have to worry about etching, scratching and staining.
The other great thing about Kashmire White is it's a relatively low priced granite!

Kashmire White has a lot of movement in the pattern, but it is actually a fairly consistent granite from slab to slab.  That being said, I still strongly recommend you pick out your exact slabs.

Kashmire White is also called Kashmir White, Cashmere White, Kashmiri and Kashmere.

Kashmire White can be a more porous granite.
I recommend finding slabs that have been resined, this will help with staining a lot.  Also, just be sure to seal your countertops really well and keep them sealed and you'll be fine.

Kashmire White is available in 2 cm and 3 cm slabs.

Great stuff. I saw kashmir white granite for the first time the other day in my friends new kitchen and it truly is stunning. Now I am looking at getting it myself!
