Is everyone looking at the whole picture though? Think outside the Home Depot granite colors. You can not tell me that the colors below aren't sexy! These colors are AMAZING and they come from the earth and they are all so unique even from slab to slab! I'm not doggin' on quartz.....I'm a huge quartz fan. I just don't think the sexiness factor can even be compared!
Above granite is Meteorus. It's also funny because a lot of quartz colors are mimicking granite colors....and it's usually the boring, unsexy granite colors. So while I think the pure whites and other, more contemporary colors of the quartz are sexy, again it's not looking at the whole picture.

Some of the comments I read were saying they don't like the "shine" of granite. Well, hone it! Honing gives it a matte finish. There are also leather and satin finishes that we can apply to the granite slabs. These finishes take away the shine factor. I'm not a fan of polished granite either, the granite in my kitchen is honed and I have loved this finish!
Iron Red

I've been asking everyone I talk to (that knows stone) what granite color they think is the sexiest. By far, the Cosmos (pictured below) has been the most popular answer. This picture doesn't do it justice, you have to see it in person, but let me tell you....this is one sexy granite!
Verde Bamboo
So, what do you all think? Is quartz sexier than granite?
*Sidenote, I am showing stones that are commercially sold as granite. I realize some of them are quartzites geologically. :)

I agree. Granite is definitely sexy! It just takes the right color of granite.
Do you put those geologic caveats at the end to keep me at bay? Hah! I love Iron Red that keeps showing up and I keep seeing black and white banded quartzite. That black and white stuff does something primal to me.

The disclaimer is all for you....and the couple of other people that I get emails from correcting me! :)
I love Iron Red too. Have you ever used it on a job? That stuff is HARD! We chisled it once and I had to hide from my fabricators for a week so they wouldn't kill me!
I like how you said "does something primal to me". I feel the same way about quite a few stones, but I always say "it makes my heart melt". I like your description better.
Azul Macumba Rocks!!, It just give me that feeling of a wow factor. We are getting 4 slabs of it for our outside grand entraceway next week. Getting the luxury of choosing out of 15 slabs which is arriving at the granite yard on Wednesday. Not sure if we should get it honed or not, if anyone has honed photos of that granite, please post it. Iron Ref is also amazing, we may use it for our kitchen counters and get it honed. Theses two colors are beyond amazing.

Thanks for the comment.
I love, love Azul Macauba too!
I think it looks really great polished. I've honestly never seen it honed, but I think that it would probably be really beautiful. I'm a sucker for the honed finish though. :)
I think we would all love to see pictures of your project when it's done! Feel free to email me pics. :)
Granite and natural stone applications are always a great addition to any space. They're smooth polish brings a classically elegant feel to your home. Granite and natural stone are the perfect choice for hard surface applications where durability and low maintenance is important, such as countertops for kitchens or tiles for high traffic areas.

Definitely SEXY, granite is amazing, and agreed...honed is the route to take. Granite brings such a grounding, earth element to a room.
I love your photos, they are extremely detailed detailed.
